Research Interest

I am interested in both natural and anthropogenic contamination of water systems.  My current research project is focused on evaluating the toxicity of oil sands process-affected water (OSPW) at the molecular level in fish.  I will be looking at gene expression changes in zebrafish after both developmental and acute adult exposures to OSPW.   I will also be studying how OSPW exposure affects the expression patterns of some neurological genes.  The goal of this project is to determine the general effect of OSPW exposure on gene expression levels/patterns and relate those changes to developmental abnormalities in exposed fish.
