Daytime Lab (CW-005)

Directions:
The Daytime Lab is in the basement. Take the Zoology Wing/west elevators or stairs to the basement. Turn to your right as you exit the elevator—or left from the stairs—and enter the door to CW-005 behind the stairs (see map below). The Daytime Lab is not accessible from the east elevators.

Chief Technician
Clive is the senior technician in the Dino Lab. He has collected and prepared a variety of vertebrate fossils for research and exhibition over a period of more than 30 years. Clive enjoys the ‘dirty-hands’ aspect of his work, as well as the exchange of ideas with scientists and students from around the world. Clive oversees both daytime and evening preparation labs.
Howard Gibbins
Lab Technician, Volunteer Coordinator
Howard holds a B.A. in Anthropology, and a B.Ed. in Education. He takes care of the administrative tasks relating to the Dino Lab’s volunteers, as well as the specimen cataloguing when they finish their projects. He also makes storage jackets, builds crates, leads school tours, and does fossil preparation.
Robin Sissons
Lab Technician
Robin is a palaeontologist currently working as a technician at the University of Alberta with Dr. Corwin Sullivan, preparing fossils from the Grande Prairie region for research, education, and display. She also works as a field technician with the Sullivan Lab, whose fieldwork currently focuses on the Peace Region. These fossils are exciting because of their great potential for contributing to our knowledge of Alberta’s ancient ecosystems.
Evening Lab (Z-423)

- Monday–Thursday, 5:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m.
- Open during the academic year (September–April) by appointment via Galaxy Digital (registration and more info on Volunteers)

Directions:
The Evening Lab is located on the fourth floor of the Zoology Wing. Take the Zoology Wing elevators or stairs to the fourth floor and go through the grey double doors to the right (Zoology Wing). Room Z-423 is nearly at the end of the hall on the left side.

Christiana Garros
Evening Lab Supervisor
Christiana is a M.Sc. student in the Currie Lab researching the patterns and frequencies of pathologies in theropod dinosaur hindlimbs. In turn, this may offer insight into functional morphology and palaeoecology. She has participated in fieldwork since 2021.
Khoi Nguyen
Evening Lab Supervisor
Khoi is a M.Sc. student in the Currie Lab studying intraspecific variation in the frills of centrosaurine dinosaurs. He has an extensive background in fossil preparation, enjoys the outdoors, and has assisted with fieldwork since 2018.
