I am Yajaira, an MSc student in the Tierney lab. I completed my undergraduate degree in Aquatic and Fishery Sciences at the University of Washington, where I first became interested in how aquatic organisms interact with their environments. My research investigates how biogenic volatile organic compounds (VOCs) influence olfactory-driven homing behaviors in salmon, using zebrafish as a model organism. In my free time I enjoy cooking, hiking, and foraging for wild foods.
