I am interested in fisheries ecology in northern ecosystems. My current research focuses on life history strategies of northern form Dolly Varden char (Salvelinus malma) in the western Canadian arctic. In these northern systems, individual Dolly Varden within a population have the ability to adopt anadromous (migratory) or resident (non-migratory) life histories. Resident individuals are largely unstudied within these systems and the underlying factors associated with different life history trajectories are currently unknown. Therefore, the aim of my research is to identify biological/environmental factors that contribute to life history selection. Specifically, I am interested in how growth rates and metabolism in early life-stages affects life history trajectories.
