To do this, members of our lab have created and abide by the following code of conduct.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Professionalism<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (lab setting, field setting, and general setting):<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Punctual for meetings, considerate of others time<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Being prepared for meetings and other lab duties\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Maintaining lab cohesion and interaction among your lab members\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Collaboration means helping others and receiving help\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Nurture lab environment<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Accepting responsibility of your mistakes<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Proactive to prevent similar issues in the future<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Transparency of research, follow \u201cResearch and Scholarship Integrity Policy\u201d (can be issues asap<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Open to constructive feedback from lab members\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Express gratitude<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Allowing everyone an equal opportunity to participate in lab and social settings<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">No gossiping\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Within or out of lab<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Targeting specific lab members\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Mindful of others schedules, provide sufficient notice when asking for help<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Assume everyone is as busy or busier than you<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Mindful of personal boundaries of others<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li questions<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><b>Respecting shared work spaces<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (field\/lab):\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Following all safety procedures<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Treating equipment with respect<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If equipment (lab\/field) is broken or malfunctioning, ensure fixed asap<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If you don\u2019t know how to use it, ask<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Clean after use (do your dishes)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ensure equipment is maintained at a functional level, including trucks\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Cleaning up your work space and communal space<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Communicate use of \u201cstation\u201d, make available when not in use centralize equipment<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Scent-free zone: ensure you\u2019re not wearing cologne or perfume in the lab<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Guidelines for mentorship, do not dump work on summer students. Take responsibility for your own project and don\u2019t leave it all to your summer student.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Discrimination and Harassment<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">:<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Not tolerated\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If unsure, refer to definitions <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If you see something inappropriate happening, a gentle reminder about the Code of Conduct is a productive response:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Everybody makes mistakes, acknowledge them<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Try to respond in a constructive way<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">First try to resolve the issue with the person you have an issue with<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If not working or not comfortable, find a mediator to assist (conflict resolution)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\":uk\" class=\"ii gt\">\n<div id=\":rw\" class=\"a3s aiL \">\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Use of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) in research, data analyses, and writing:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In the Evenden Lab, GenAI cannot be used as a ghost writer. It should not be used to generate code for statistical analyses or original written work or images. We do not upload our data sets to GenAI tools that share files. It can be used for troubleshooting and copy editing.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Disclosure\/Transparency Policy:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Keep chat logs with AI tools and notes detailing when generative AI tools were used<\/li>\n<li>Disclose any and all use of AI tools in research development (hypotheses generation) and writing with supervisor. Maintain transparency with supervisor about involvement of AI tools in analyses. See example disclosure statements here<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that AI use is within guidelines for funding agencies and journal requirements and its use is communicated clearly in published manuscripts and <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1WIb2tc0mQKDZWuOxh8doYRfK8yU8gjq-mEhTLebblg0\/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.gjdgxs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1WIb2tc0mQKDZWuOxh8doYRfK8yU8gjq-mEhTLebblg0\/edit?tab%3Dt.0%23heading%3Dh.gjdgxs&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1737586432959000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0GSgw-M9mmjoPS6XQkjhkY\">theses<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Individuals maintain ownership and responsibility for the interpretation, use and accuracy of generated outputs<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that AI generative tools are not saving your data and using that to train its models<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Statement:<\/strong> In accordance with our lab&#8217;s guidelines, generative AI tools were not employed for idea generation or hypothesis formation in this research.
