The Biology Graduate Students Association (BGSA) was founded in 1999 to represent graduate students in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Alberta. It was originally formed in response to the merger of the former Departments of Botany, Entomology, Genetics, Microbiology and Zoology into the Department of Biological Sciences.\u00a0 The Association adheres to the BGSA Constitution<\/a>.<\/p>

First known as the Society Of Biology Students (1995-99), the BGSA has been active in representing the academic, political and social interests of graduate students in the Department of Biological Sciences. Through this organization we hope to facilitate interactions between faculty, graduate students and undergraduates, and enhance the quality of academic life in the Department.<\/p>
