Compositional structure of the elk herds in southwest Alberta is not well known. Statistically speaking however, the average age of harvested bull elk is about 3-4 years old. This project is set to record the compositional age/sex structure of the elk herds and to apply this data to an altered hunting program to increase bull elk age and to create a more evenly composed population of elk.
